Expandet Wood Screws

Traditional wood screws have a blunt thread angle of 60° (displaces material, risk of splitting), have a thicker minor diameter thereby deforms the wood, so pre-drilling is recommended.

Chipboard screws can be used in chipboard and soft wood types without predrilling, due to its thin core diameter and sharp angle of the thread.

This sharp thread cuts into wood with lower splitting effects, while simultaneously reducing the insertion torque.

This combination increases the battery life on the used power tools and has the advantage of saving production time. The pull-out forces are also more consistent from the reduced splitting.

However, using chipboard screws in harder wood types is usually problematic because the friction and insertion torque is higher, which may result in the screws breaking.

Therefore EXPANDET has developed some special features and modifications to these screws to eliminate the limitations of the above designs and this improved range is described below.

Expandet Extra Decking and Facade Screws

We are stocking specialised Extra Decking Screws from Denmark with a reduced countersunk head, milling ribs and fibre-cut.

Wooden decks usually consist of thin planks; being outdoors, they must endure harsh environmental conditions. This is where deck screws come in.

They are designed to resist corrosion, drive easily and lay smoothly against the deck surface.

As they anchor timber or composite deck boards to structural timber or joists, to ensure a good smooth working, these screws have a parallel shank, with a self drilling and countersink feature. This enables the screw to be fastened in a single operation doing away with the necessity of predrilling the deck boards.

Usually made from stainless steel or with a SS coating to prevent corrosion for outdoor use, its other special feature includes a high torque drive fitting such as hexagon, square and torx drives.
